A new cake bakery is set to revolutionise Oulu's cake market. Mammun Hyväkakku promises to bake cakes that won't leave a single crumb.
A revolutionary new cake bakery has opened in Oulu. Mammun Hyväkakku offers cake lovers, among other things, a Cake Designer that lets you design exactly the cake you want, and 24h Self-Service Pickup, where you can collect your cake at any time.
Hyväkakku's products include delicious and eye-catching layer cakes, cheesecakes, fantasy cakes and sandwich cakes (voileipäkakku). The range also includes macarons and vegan raw cakes. The cakes are baked to order for celebrations at home and corporate events.
– For sudden cake cravings, our display case has a cake that changes every week, the Cake of the Week, says Hyväkakku's founder Mammu, aka Ruusa-Mari Höyhtyä.
Hyväkakku's cakes are handmade in our own bakery. The sponges are made from local ingredients, and only Finnish berries are used in the home-made fillings.
– It's important to us that a cake tastes delicious, looks good and is easy to buy.
Buying cakes from the online shop is indeed straightforward. In addition to a wide range, customers can use the advanced Cake Designer, which lets them build exactly the cake they want in the online shop and admire the result on screen before ordering.
For collecting orders, Hyväkakku offers a unique 24h Self-Service Pickup. This means cakes can be collected in the evening or at weekends – even straight to the party table.
– Customers have really loved this, Mammu says proudly.
Hyväkakku's Oulu bakery is located in Rusko at Voimatie 1. The master baker is Fanni Vähäsöyrinki, who previously ran her own home bakery in Oulu.
Hyväkakku's story began when home baker Mammu sold her first cake 5 years ago in Kokkola's Reko local food group. In 2019, the business expanded into its own premises in Kokkola and Hyväkakku hired its first employee. Customers who drove all the way from Oulu to Kokkola to buy a cake encouraged Mammu to expand the cake bakery to Oulu as well.
– I've never been good at saying no, Mammu admits.
