Wedding Cake
Getting married? Hyväkakku will create the wedding cake of your dreams.
Hyväkakku makes wedding cakes and wedding catering, drawing on the experience of hundreds of weddings and happy couples.
For our wedding cakes, we use high-quality ingredients produced as locally as possible. In the fillings, we use only Finnish berries and high-quality chocolate. We make our cakes by hand from start to finish on site at our bakery.
How to order your wedding cake
Well in advance
Once you know your wedding date, venue and approximate number of guests, you can send us a wedding cake enquiry. We'll check our calendar and get in touch with you.
In spring
Every spring we hold a Wedding Cake Tasting, when you can collect a tasting box from the bakery. The box contains a few flavour options for your wedding cake.
1 month before the big day
Before the wedding, we finalise the flavours, look and decorations of the cake, and agree on delivery and any other catering. If you wish, we can hold a meeting of about half an hour for this.
On the wedding day
As agreed, the cake is collected or delivered to the venue's cold room on the day before the wedding.
Your wedding day is your big day. May your beautiful, delicious wedding cake be its crowning glory.
What should you consider when planning your wedding cake?
The wedding cake has become the undisputed highlight of the whole wedding meal. Whereas festive tables used to be decorated almost without exception with piped cream cakes, today cakes are customised to suit the theme, the colours and the couple's personality. A striking look is important, but we consider the flavour of the cake even more important. For Hyväkakku, it is a matter of honour that you can look back on the taste of your wedding cake with fondness.
When choosing your wedding cake, consider what else will be served at the wedding. With a hearty main course, we recommend a lighter cake, and vice versa. Is the cake the dessert, or will a separate coffee table be laid? It also helps to think together about what you both like: chocolate or berries, exotic or traditional, sweet or fresh? Traditional flavours can also be given a modern look. The season is also worth considering. Strawberry is a summer favourite, while spicier and darker flavours suit autumn and winter weddings well.
You can look for inspiration for the style of your cake in advance, for example in wedding magazines, on Instagram or on Pinterest.
Cake Buffet
Sometimes it's hard to decide on a flavour, the bride's and groom's wishes don't match, or you simply want some variety on the coffee table. In that case, a cake buffet is worth considering – it grows more popular year after year. For a cake buffet, you choose several flavours that complement each other. A cake buffet can include several different cakes, plus extras such as macarons and mini cupcakes.
How much do wedding cakes cost?
Cake prices are based on the number of guests. The price of wedding cakes depends on whether you choose regular single-tier cakes or a striking tiered cake.
Single-tier cakes cost from €6/person and tiered cakes from €7.50/person. Trendy vintage piped cakes + 0,5€ /person
At large weddings you can also combine cakes, as most couples do. You could choose, for example, one tiered cake for 45 people plus a couple of individual cakes decorated in the same theme.
The price includes a tasting box (available in spring), a half-hour planning meeting at the bakery if needed, and supports for tiered cakes.
Added to the price are real flower decorations, which you can also deliver to us yourself if you wish. If needed, we can also order and collect them from our local partner florist.
The cake buffet a price estimate is calculated once the flavours have been roughly decided.
Once the booking is confirmed, we commit to it and mark it in our calendar.
Serving dishes, cutting and serving the cake
It's worth asking your venue about cake stands. Stands can also be hired from catering services and tableware hire services. Our cakes are usually too tall for a traditional tiered cake stand where the cakes sit on top of each other. Our cakes are made on cardboard cake boards, which make them easy to move onto your own serving dish.
Tiered cakes are cut so that the top tier is eaten first, after which the board in between is lifted off and you move on to the next tier. We recommend using a cake knife for cutting, especially with chocolate cakes, to keep everything neat.
All our products, including macarons, are always kept refrigerated. We make sure the cold chain is maintained during transport
What to serve alongside the cake?
Besides the crowning glory of the celebration table, you often want to serve something else too. Mini cupcakes and macarons customised in your theme colours make a perfect match for the cake. Mini cupcakes €2 each and macarons €2 each. We usually recommend 1.5 macarons per person. We also have 2 macaron towers for hire, which make a stunning detail on the serving table.
Delivery
Wedding cakes are collected from the bakery or delivered the day before the wedding at an agreed time. Please make sure there is enough cold storage space and, if necessary, that someone is there to receive the cakes. Unfortunately, we cannot offer delivery for tiered cakes, so if you are planning to order a tiered cake, please be prepared to collect it from the bakery the day before the wedding.
Delivery is charged according to our price list.
